Midland - James Bay Project
Strategic alliance between Altius Resources Inc. and Midland Resources Inc. for the generation of new gold exploration projects in the James Bay area where the shared exploration expertise between both companies has already resulted in several target areas.
The exploration area, covers several Archean geological subprovinces of James Bay, a region recognized for its high gold potential (e.g. Goldcorp's Eleonore mine), focusing on the prolific contact between the La Grande and Opinaca subprovinces.
To date, 6 gold and base metals projects were generated in 2017, for a total of 1097 claims covering 619 square kilometers. These projects have been named: Shire (Zn), Moria (Ni), Elrond (Au), Minas Tirith (Au), Isengard (Au), Gondor(Au) and Helm’s Deep (Au). The Shire Zn Project was based on the discovery of a new zinc-bearing greenstone belt that has assayed up to 4.85% Zn over 1.17m, and up to 7.53% Zn in grab samples.
The Moria Au Project is a series of Ni-Cu-Co mineralized meta-pyroxenite intrusions. Results include 1.07% Ni, 0.24% Cu, 0.09% Co in grab samples, and 0.8% Ni / 0.8m in channels (Gimli Showing); 0.78% Ni in grab samples (Gloin Showing).
The Elrond Au Project has yielded 4.52 g/t Au and 1.81 g/t Au in grab samples from amphibolites containing arsenopyrite-pyrrhotite mineralization and 0.89 g/t Au, 0.43 g/t Au, 0.38 g/t Au in grab samples of pegmatites containing sulfide mineralization.
The Minas Tirith Au Project is hosted in wacke with "Eleonore-type" biotite/calc-silicate alteration and has assayed up to 5.23 g/t Au in grab sample.
The Helm’s Deep Au Project has returned 2.42 g/t Au from sandstone hosted mineralization.
